What's more discouraging is his approval for a token vote for abortion and the HealthCare bill. That means nothing, all they will do is vote no, no matter about 2012 elections. Then the EPA was nowhere to be found in the final ageeement. That is #1 right now with EPA wanting to restrict business and keeping us from being able to Drill Baby Drill.
by  Joline  2011-04-11 12:13:09
Planned Parenthood, NPR, Obamacare, the EPA and many other things need to be defunded, but there is no way this is going to be accomplished with the socialists in control of the Senate and the White House. We need to gain control of those before we can accomplished what is needed.
by Billie Rose Klein  2011-04-11 13:00:28
OOPS! Sorry--disappointed. Spelling error.....
by Glenn James  2011-04-11 11:58:50
I knew Boehner was not the man for the job of Speaker of the House! He will ALWAYS give in. He is a PROGRESSIVE.
by  anonymous (BFE)  2011-04-11 11:59:03
by  Sue Haines  2011-04-11 12:08:32
At first I didn't support it but after learning that Obama started with only 4B in cuts, Boehner did a great job getting it to 38.5B. Now on to the next challenge of the 2012 Budget and keeping the debt ceiling and not raising it.
by  Joline  2011-04-11 12:09:24
I think the budget deal is a victory for the Tea Party. Without what was accomplished in November, the Polosi, Reid, Obama machine would not have even been discussing budget cuts much less actually vote to cut $38.5B. We certainly want more, but need to be realistic and take victory where we can get it. Let's make sure we're victorious in 2012 by winning both houses of Congress and the White House! Then...we can get meaningful things done.
by John Cook  2011-04-15 08:13:44
I will never support a person that says we will get 100B cut and then accept only 38.5. Do you remember "Read my Lips". Standing up for your word is the only option. Shut down the government who cares? Only the million govt workers who mostly vote Democrat.
I dare Obama not to pay the troops. Political suicide. He would never do that. Although, he has done alot that has amazed me. But being the only President that would even say that, was bad enough.
by Dave Frost  2011-04-11 12:16:01
If this budget deficit is ever going to be reduced, we have to stand fast. Further, we can't continue to fund programs and institutions that the majority of the American people are against. No more funding for NPR or for Planned Parenthood.
by Sue Glover  2011-04-11 12:19:23
This is a token to pacify the conservatives but does nothing to address the issues facing America. It does nothing to defund Obamacare.
If this is the best he can do then what is going to happen with the debt ceiling? What is going to happen with the 2012 budget?
by bill rushing  2011-04-11 12:31:21
AT 4% SOMEBODY PLAYING GAMES ... NOBAMA 2012 ...
by William Hamilton  2011-04-11 19:27:47
I don't know if my math is correct but if I'm right this spending cut represents .0011% of a 3.5 trillion budget. This is less of a token but a stick in the eye. Hell no it's not enough
by ted bathurst  2011-04-11 12:33:40
this is considered foreplay compared to the real fight- the debt ceiling and the 2012 ryan budget. if we shut down the government, the repubs would get blamed and lose all hope of the independent vote and detroning obama. one has to got to remember the real fight involves the 2012 election- we lose that and we lose everything. you have got to pick the battles that help win the war and we had too much to lose over idealogy and a few billion dollars.
by Steven Bonesio  2011-04-11 12:39:02
Sold down the river again. Both parties probably laughed all the way to their bank. We are printing 8 BILLION a day. We need a reckoning and we need it soon.
by Elaine  2011-04-11 13:18:43
Agree with you 100% Ted! I wish they could have gotten more, but after all, Boehner got nearly all the cuts the Repubs demanded. Cooler heads need to prevail, a war is not won in a minor skirmish ... it is won by standing your ground at the major battle.
by Nola Campbell  2011-04-11 12:39:52
considering that John Boehner can't successfully challenge Obama to a duel...
by Tammy  2011-04-11 12:41:27
Drown in a bathtub or drown in an ocean. Either way, you still drown. The Repubs had the upper-hand, but not the backbone to use it. Same old song and dance that got us where we are.
by jackie mumaw  2011-04-11 12:47:46
Boehner is a joke - he needs to be replaced as well as Harry Reid and all the socialists in Congress!
by  Thelma Taormina  2011-04-11 12:51:40
The Republicans should have demanded the defunding of Obamacare above all else. All other issues can and will be dealt with once we have our individual freedom back, the Health Care fiasco is a major blow to individual rights!
by Louis \ Rudanovich  2011-04-11 12:54:37
Boehner's compromise with the dems is disgusting, and shows his weakness. It would be best if he resigned as the speaker of the House, and someone with courage/patriotism like Wisconsin gov. Scott Walker take his place.
by Billie Rose Klein  2011-04-11 12:58:02
Boehner seems to be buddying up to Obama and is giving in to Reid. I thought he'd be tougher. I'm disappoinged.
by  anonymous (BFE)  2011-04-11 12:59:11
by Stevend  2011-04-11 13:08:53
This is only round 1 of a scheduled 15 rounder. It seems like too many folks were expecting a knock out punch. I'd say the round 1 ended in a split on the judges scoring cards. I'm ok with that.

The question is whether Boener's got what it takes to land a KO blow later. That remains to be seen, but I'm still hopeful.
by Mrs. Mary Ann Brame  2011-04-11 13:11:04
Boehner should be fired!!!! Get rid of him.
by Stephen Gdovin  2011-04-11 13:13:21
by  RICK  2011-04-11 13:15:33
For us to be winners in 2012 who would have to win the presidency? Would Boehner go along with him or her?
by Max Beasley  2011-04-11 13:21:17
We must not allow any of the Obamacare package to be started. This is the first spending cut.

by Linda Patterson  2011-04-11 13:23:47
I feel like the Republicans need to get rid of the victim state of mind.
I believe this is just another issue that is exposed...few if any in DC has any business savy...
by BJ Correu  2011-04-11 13:24:11
I've never thought Boehner was tough enough for the job. Very disappointed that he gave up a lot at the end. We have to fight harder for what we want. And planned parenthood is not the most important issue here. Obama Care and the EPA should be most important.
by Michael Marcotte  2011-04-11 13:24:59
I am a Republican activist and past member of the Maine Republican State Committee 1998-2002. Boehner's efforts fell far short of anything sensible - 2% of the current year's overspending is a joke. The American public is much smarter than hearing what sounds like big numbers ($38.5B) and what really are big numbers ($1,650B) or ($1.65T) Is anyone serious when they think that $38.5B is a significant number by comparison of $14,500B translated to $14.5T - Be serious now. And, by the way: Pro-life means pro-life, not let's ban it in DC and call it a win! It's like traveling at 14,500 mph across the salt flats, and the driver (Boehner) decides to lay off 38½ miles per hour - and calling it responsible and safe driving!
by Patsy  2011-04-11 17:19:52
You sound like an intelligent person. Do you really live in Maine? What is wrong with your lady Senators? Creepy. What's up with SUsan Collins voting yes on a
insignificant EPA bill(which she knew would not pass) and then vote against the bill to limit the EPA. Remember when she is running for re-election. You might as well vote for a person who calls themself a Democrat! Not a Dem in sheep's clothing(Republican).
by Connie Bonnette  2011-04-11 13:48:35
Speaker Boehner started with nothing and ending up with something that is better than we were a year ago. It may have looked bad and gone against the GOP and Tea Party being with the Dems playing the blame game. Think of the men and women in the service. We did get somewhere and that is better than a snowball as that will melt. Good thinks don't come fast and we want the Whitehouse in 2012. I do not want to see our party lower themselves to the Dems class. Stick together and keep focused.
by Richard E. Nygaard  2011-04-11 13:48:49
Save the tears you are going to need them come 2011.

No Balls!Afraid to take a strong stand. All a political ploy there would be not government shutdown, used the military pay to get public excited and supportive of blotched negotiations.
Go DONALD, GO
by Mary Bosworth  2011-04-11 14:18:24
Let's close some of these blotted, disfunctional agencies, i.e., EPA, Department of Education, Agriculture, and Commerce
by Tracy McCutchin  2011-04-11 14:23:40
by Connie Williamson  2011-04-11 14:26:19
Very disappointing! Very concern now with 2012!! Boehner should have stood his ground for "we the people"!! In my opinion there is NO such thing as compromise on American Values!! We are in BIG trouble if this continues! Can't wait to listen to what Mark Levin has to say about this on his program at five (5)this afternoon. If you don't already know you can listen to him of 96.7 FM. He on from 5 till 8. His program should be very interesting.
by Bill Meng  2011-04-11 14:29:16
If Boehner were a baseball player, he would have a victory party after a rainout.
by Brian West  2011-04-11 14:38:31
If this is the best he can do maybe he can go home and go back to sweeping floors. Grow some ovaries boys.
by mary h  2011-04-11 14:42:28
Are they deaf dumb and blind our country is going bankrupt? We tried to make the point last election I guess we need to THROW ALL THE BUMS OUT and start over. Congress was not supposed to be a full time job with pension and benefits they were supposed to go do America's business and then go home and plant the crops, build things, be doctors, do their real work and leave us alone and let each state take care of it's local needs. Instead they force us to give them our hard earned money so they have a continuous flow of cash to waste on things we as citizens don't really want and don't need. I would rather have my freedon in a free country than wake up in a socialist country with government providing not quite enough of anything. We need to earn our own way and if we're really smart we can have it all if not we can earn more than a dictatorship will provide. STOP THE SPENDING!!!!!!!! Leave us alone!
by Laura Adkison  2011-04-11 14:50:14
HELL NO he didn't do enough! I'm just glad he didn't shed tears of joy about what he caved on. This was a total joke and now we have the debt ceiling to deal with - hopefully he and Cantor will grow spines and balls soon and not crater on that too. They need to use Obama's own words against him and get the message out that Republicans are trying every which way to help Obama reduce the deficit by the 1 trillion he said he would cut by the end of his first term or year. I can't remember what lie it actually was.
by judi mohler  2011-04-11 14:51:47
that's is barely enough to cover a couple days interest payments. r u kidding?
by Ray Bostard  2011-04-11 14:52:41
Planned Parenthood,NPR,and EPA should have been defunded.
by Craig Gaspard  2011-04-11 14:59:29
Being a conservative means that you will have to wake up every morning, and be ready to fight the liberals EVERY DAY!!!If you are not willing to fight for every single thing that you know is right, STAY IN BED!!!
by James (Jim) Smith  2011-04-11 15:07:09
He continues to NOT address the $105.5 BILLION that was authorized as part of obamacare. He could have gotten $143.5 billion, if he had just willing to "go after" the $105.5 billion. I believe he cut a deal to NOT address these $$$, if bho would sign-off on the extention of the "Bush era tax cuts". This is the same policy/ies as previous Demorats and RINOs are used to working under; it's a "new day"---get with the progam or get out-of-the-way!
by Sylvia Guzman  2011-04-11 15:38:05
The debt is so monsterous that this is like sending a picture of a toy soldier off to fight in a real war.
Disgusted.
by JoAnne Malloy  2011-04-11 15:40:37
He should have worked harder and sooner.
by Ron Harders  2011-04-11 15:41:44
by Ann Kelley  2011-04-11 15:42:14
Planned Parenthood (Abortion) and Obamma Care should be totally cut out of the Budget.
It is not acceptable until this is dealt with.
by Renata  2011-04-11 15:44:26
Boehner and Republicans are sellouts. They aren't listening to WE, The People. Repubs started at 100b which was not even 1 percent and ended at 38b. I'd say Dems won. If we cant even cut 1%, you think they're going to do better on future budget cuts or debt ceiling. Really? We definitely need to oust BHO but if Repubs lose, its because they TOO refuse to do what we ask them to do....bunch of weinies
by Billie Higgins  2011-04-11 15:44:47
I would like to have seen a much larger cut in spending but when you are dealing stupid, brainless liberals whose agenda is to make a 3rd world country out of this great nation so we can have a socialist, Marxest, Communist nation hell may freeze over before they ever give in so vote them out and drill baby drill. With a Republican president and congress maybe something can be done if it is not politics as usual. There are a few good men and women in Congress but politics as usual is a pile of you know what--greed, self interest, dishonesty in many forms seems to be the name of the game. Clean up the budget in the name of honesty and concern for "We the People."
by CINDI TURNBULL  2011-04-11 15:45:38
by Cathy Meyer  2011-04-11 15:45:57
We need to stop the spending. I'm not happy with 'the deal.' I think we could have gotten more, but that would have involved a better negotiator. Maybe Boehner did the best HE could do. We can all agree on principles of less government and stopping the spending. It's much more of a challenge for us conservatives to agree on how to apply those principles. I wasn't in the room. I've not had to handle this sort of negotiation. I wanted more, but I can be pragmatic too. I'll say this is a start, but we can't let up. This is not even a spit in the bucket.
by Bob V  2011-04-11 15:47:10
$ 38 Billion is what 2 days of deficit spending ? It did nothing for deficit spending , nothing !
NPR , Planned Parenthood , Illegal Immigration.... come on I want serious cuts. I'm on SSI and I know I'll feel it .... but it'll be worse later . And now Mr.Present decides he's gonna get serious with the 2012 budget .... what a laugh .... he knows NOTHING !
by Sherman Sims  2011-04-11 15:47:52
When you consider that we're half way through the year, then the $38.5 billion is a big slice of the pie. He did a good job and we need to get off of this issue of "bad mouthing" him. Let's get on to the next battle and win it!!
by Bob Morrison  2011-04-11 15:52:56
Deal was more important strategically. Clear Boehner "victory" sends GOP into debt limit negotiations on top; grabbing hold firmly, Boehner has BHO
...by the ears!
by HUGH WATTERS, JR  2011-04-11 16:01:37
Wanted Obama Care defunded.
by Michael Kinzie  2011-04-11 16:04:46
If they are going to squabble over a few billion, it%u2019s a pointless discussion when you are talking about over a trillion in deficit spending. Congress does not have the political fortitude to make the tough decisions. The Republicans are calling this a victory; I%u2019m calling it a joke.

by Diana Manzato  2011-04-11 16:05:12
Republicans promised voters a $100 billion dollar cut. In my opinion, they caved....once again to the left. Very disappointed and most are just not getting the level of dissatisfaction we are feeling in the grass roots movement. Does the GOP think it will be any easier with Paul's budget proposal? If they caved so easily over $61 billion, what will happen with a $6 trillion dollar decrease? The Democrats didn't compromise with the ridiculous Obamacare. Why are we?
by Dexter60  2011-04-11 16:07:54
Democrats/Republicans ... not -- oligarchists, socalists and RINOs all have to go. The lid should be clamped down on the budget before another dime goes out. Period. Shut down the Ponzi scheme and swallow the cost before we choke on the paper debt they are creating -- to justify the confiscation of ALL property 'in the name of the law.'
They simply refuse to obey the law.
Put my children in chains? with what army?
Time to issue a Fatwa on this government.
by Olivia Mulvaney  2011-04-11 16:13:41
If we can balance our check books, surely our elected officials get the message that you can't spend money you don't have. We have to eliminate things until we live within our means. Why is that so difficult for most of our leadership to understand?
by Jim Lanier  2011-04-11 16:19:27
We believe he did a good job of drawing a line in the sand. As several have said, the real goal is to unseat Obama so we can't be seen as acting unreasonably about our targets so what we believe he has done with his negotiations is to tell the Democrats that they are in for a fight over the debit ceiling and 2012 budget.
by sandy crawford  2011-04-11 16:20:39
Boehner might have been worried about the press. I say the heck with them. The Military vito is the only thing that worried me.
by Randy Turner  2011-04-11 16:21:47
I am a hard-nosed conservative who would like to kick the Libs asses right out of Washington; however, I believe that our side had better realize that at present we are not in a position to control decision-making in DC. This is a decent first step in bringing things under control. It was also the easiest of all the hard decisions facing Congress in the next two years. We must show SOME patience! As for Boehner: He did an OK job (did not give away the store) but remember that there is a reason why no one has ever been elected President straight from the House of Representatives! Their leadership qualities are just not that strong.
by Frank  2011-04-11 16:33:13
What did the taxpayer get out of all this,a 38 billion tax reduction. We spend 5 billion a day now. That was pitiful!!!They had better do better for the 2012 budget or they will be out and more conservatives will be elected.Republicans, show some backbone for a change.
by lucy  2011-04-11 16:42:17
The senate and White House still in Dems control. Not enough votes to overide Obama veto. He did well this time around under the circumstances. Give him a break.
by Lowell Radke  2011-04-11 16:46:31
Replace Boehner. He's up against some of best liars in history. We must defund OBamacare and the EPA, then deal with the rest of the deficit
by Ben Hayle  2011-04-11 16:48:02
Our deficit this year alone is 1.5 TRILLION, if we are fighting about 30 or 40 billion dollars there is no hope and we are all screwed.
by Carrie Roemer  2011-04-11 16:50:45
I am very disappointed in Bohner's lack of back bone dealing with the democratic party. I had high hopes for him and the newly elected representatives.

One thing I will say about the democratic party they do not give in or compromise with the Republicans, they vote the way there fellow democrats expect them to vote. I am extremely upset that the Republican continually cave and not vote the way we... conservatives voting theminto office for.
by Paul Goble  2011-04-11 16:57:53
Current republican "leadership" is only slightly better than the dummycraps.
by Linda Adair  2011-04-11 17:06:56
With the Senate and White House still under Democratic control, I think he did the best he could.
by jimmy weaver  2011-04-11 17:08:36
If i were the fly on the wall i might be more sure. We need to get all cuts whenever possible and we have 1.9 trillion left for 2012.
by Jim Harris  2011-04-11 17:10:10
The acceptable start agreement would have been 5% cut in the Defense budget too and a 10% cut in all monetary support for countries over seas. Nothing in the U.S.A. constitution authorizes congress to give American tax dollars to any other country.
by Patsy  2011-04-11 17:10:25
The Republicans have no guts..Surely someone is as smart as Pelosi. I am ashamed to be a Republican. Why did the newly elected Republicans cave. Boehner is not going to help save the country. It is pathetic that the Republicans gave up their bargaining issues(more serious budget cuts) and caved in on abortion, EPA, and Healthcare. How about making lobbyists illegal!,have a flat income tax, decrease welfare(do random drug testing) and lower the Corporate tax. The US is doomed to follow the mistakes in Europe.
by PatriotWriter  2011-04-11 17:14:50
The budget crisis debate was like arguing over the bar tab on the Titanic. The ship is going down, folks. A 1.6% cut vs. a .79% cut is not even going to launch half a lifeboat.

I think the republicans do not have the fight in them. We trusted them one time too many. They have the upper hand. They should have passed a bill to fund the military anyway and hold off one every thing else. Shut the government down. Stand for what you were voted inform.
by John Allen  2011-04-11 18:03:42
Don't tread on me, don't impose unconstitutional controls on me, don't rob me and tell me it is necessary taxation, and stop lying, misrepresenting, exaggerating what are already lies and tell me its discourse. Don't introduce the politics of foreign governments and totalitarian regimes and tell me its "change". They have stolen freedom, changed ownership of automobile companies by stealing the investments from bond holders, want to misuse our courts by appointing Socialists as Supreme court Justices, put an avowed Communist as an Administration Czar, another who admires the worst of the Communist Chinese. Corruption knows no end it continues to seek to devour more. Dump Obama and his wife...and John Boehner as Speaker. Give us another Tom DeLay
by Dr. Ron Higgins  2011-04-11 18:13:50
Boehner is a weak whiner, as he again proved. I remember WELL his almost tearful begging for the passage of the 1st bailout! EGAD! He is PART OF THE PROBLEM and should be removed. He's not a disappointment(his spinelessness guaranteed this latest result); he's ineffective and an appeaser, like his other RINO blow buddies...krh dallas

We can't give up, we are just starting to make a difference. We need to provide more tea party members in the next election so they have a stronger position.
by Pat Adams  2011-04-11 19:03:16
We still have Obamacare looming, and our tax $'s are still going for abortions. Never mind NPR-aren't we actually helping George Soros by funding that? We certainly hit the hot buttons, though. Turn it around. Why were Planned Parenthood and NPR so important to the Dems that they made their concessions? Whatever - I GET IT. We have to take over the Republican Party. I just hope that there's enough time. I'm finished in hoping and believing in our elected officials. With them, it's all about the power and their superiority to the people who elected them AND pay their salaries. Enough!! Michele Bachman may be OK but then again, maybe not. I did like her comments when she was interviewed right after the compromise was announced. We will never have that much leverage again.
by Mark Kinkaid  2011-04-11 19:09:26
Vote for the conservatives and we will make it our number one priority to defund Obamacare, stop the spending, lower taxes, and lower regulations. I guess they were talking about next year. Giving in was not one of the options. Lets just hope that this is not an example of how the next round will be.
by William Hamilton  2011-04-11 19:19:17
I think John Boehner needs more fire in his belly. Maybe we could give him a little gun powder in his breakfast. The best way to start negotiations with a Demo/Socialist is to slap them before you set down at the table just to get their attention. The words compromise and surrender are synonyms to a socialist. I don't think John will be Speaker in 2013
by Russ Handley  2011-04-11 19:53:38
We should support representative government, not delegated representation. We need more speakers at our Tea Party meetings to have the courage to defend our Constitution, not changing our Congress to a confederation of delegates. We asked the new congress to make a "contract with America - Part II" and they did, we asked them to cut $100 billion from the budget, we didn't know the year was half over and we didn't know that was 2% of the budget. Then we discovered the prorata share of $100 Billion at this stage is $61 Billion and we did three Continuing Resolutions with $6 billion, $6 Billion and $12 Billion along with the $38.5 Billion and we have a combined $62.5 Billion the largest reduction in our history. Is that doing what we asked and we are not even congratulation the victors, we are calling President Obama and Majority Leader Reid the winners. Let me say as the new Republican Party may we be so bold as to use John Paul Jones famous quote, "We have only begin to fight."
by pat aspan  2011-04-11 19:57:10

as far as I'm concerned Boehner had the upper hand that did notcome easiy. I have to make a choice Now to surpport the RNC or another Party.. Decission I did not want to do... I fully understand the the 2011 budget, but I left with a doubt concerning the 10013 budget of '12... Is the NRC going to cut spending or should i support a true converative.. Saddden in Grapevine..

All the detractors are missing the biggest factor - MILITARY PAY! When Obama said he would veto any CR that fully funded the military Boehner was backed into an unwinnable position. He did great when you take that into consideration. Remove the military pay issue and the government shuts down, guarantee it!

I'm not really surprised, the Republicans have always caved. We'll see how things go over the next couple of weeks. As far as I'm concerned... $100B in cuts, anything less is unacceptable!

We need to provide DC with more t-party members of congress and senate to give them a stronger negotiating position. Our goal for 2012.
by Rose Adwell  2011-04-11 20:46:05
You people in DC don't have a clue, both parties. I would vote for my mailman before any of you jack asses. No money for anyone until you do what you say you will do. Fund your own damn campaigns.
by Steve Konty  2011-04-11 20:58:40
Conservative need to seperate themselves from the GOP...they are just as guilty as the Dem's by not listening to the American people last November!!!
by Brien  2011-04-11 21:03:10
OK, this one stunk. Lets pray that the 2012 budget has the cuts that will really make an impact and fight for them. It isn't a compromise when the other side gets their way. We know how they work, ask for the moon and take what you can. Erode the Constitution a little at a time till there is nothing left. We are getting close to nothing left.
by Nancy Lorello  2011-04-11 21:10:25

We don't want to fire all of the bullets for the small battle. Teh big one is the debt ceiling.
by Robin  2011-04-11 21:22:06
Boehner should have let the government shut down and gone for what they promised-$100 Billion. He should have made Obama hear it from the left untill it really burned in, just to put him off balance.

I don't like the final number however as additional details are released, I don't believe this was a bone thrown to the conservatives. Considering he was in the room with three of the most corrupt politicos in the history of the nation, I think he did "okay". The PP and OCare votes will force them to go on record one more time and will show everyone where the politicians stand. More ammo for '12. I don't think it's a loss. I think we need to keep watching...
by Juanell HItchcock  2011-04-11 22:35:36
no I don't think it was enough but the government shouldn't be shut down either.
by catherine batcheller  2011-04-11 22:41:39
I agree with Dave Frost (and many other posts) but have to categorically add Obama Care and the fraudulent EPA to the list for things we need to defund. I am dismayed beyond words that Boehner has betrayed almost everything he ran on...
by Bryan J King  2011-04-11 22:46:33
I think Boehner is a poor excuse for Speaker of the house, Mike Pence would be a better choice!!
by Carol Little  2011-04-11 22:59:52
I still wondering why we borrow money from China to give to some third world country that want to kill us. I still wondering why we spent over $600 million dollars to repair mosque in Egypt, Iraq, Afghan etc. I mad as heck that obama gave Brazil (I mean his buddy George Soros) 2 billion dollars to drill for offshore oil. I wonder why GE didn't have to pay tax for 2010. I wonder why we fund Planned Parent Hood a multi million dollars business. I wonder WHY Susan B Komen gives PP funds for mammograms, when PP doesn't have any equipment to do mammograms.

by David Sims  2011-04-12 01:36:46
Republicans better forget how to compromise. The Dems don't compromise, that is why they have advanced their liberal agenda so successfully these many years.
The only compromise in this budget deal was from the Republican leaders. The Dems won because they did not have to accept 100B in cuts. They and the media will scare the Republican leaders again with the debt ceiling vote and the 2012 budget. The Republican leadership has no backbone.
by D. Avellano  2011-04-12 01:44:34
Deeper cuts were needed across the board: All departments could be given a 10% cut without closing one of them. The State has become obtuse and obese. Washington DC has become a Sanctuary City for trial lawyers, lobbyists and other culpable transformers, coveting power and glory. They worship at the shrine of Abortion and willfully neglect those at the front lines. A soldier's pay is $22,000; and if he would kill a civilian by accident, he would be tried for it. But the Planned Parenthood CEO earns $385,000 salary and knowingly, willfully sponsors the death of over 300,000 "civilian" babies each and every year. Amazing what the Democrats honor! My, my, we shall not cut that from the budget! Nor cut the CEO's obscene salary. Why, when she has become accustomed to the Democrats' largesse, which she, in turn, is expected to kick back? Yet she is only one of the outrageously overpaid managers of mortality, sorry, women's reproductive health. Bother! What deficit!
by Don Bussman  2011-04-12 04:30:18
The amount of suffering that MAY take place due to a government shutdown greatly pales in comparison to the much greater amount of suffering that WILL take place as a result of the out-of-control spending and subsequent debt if we continue on our present trajectory. ALL OF US NEED TO CONTINUE TO LET OUR REPRESENTATIVES HOW MUCH WE WILL SUPPORT THEM IF THEY DO THE CORRECT THING AND MASSIVELY DECREASE THE SIZE OF THIS GOVERNMENT WHOSE ACTIONS ARE OVERWHELMINGLY UNCONSTITUTIONAL.
by Dwight T  2011-04-12 06:49:06
I want more budget cuts but I believe sometimes you have to deal with others and compromise. The liberals better get on board or lose the next election and we will not need to negotiate.

It is shocking to see that we can't get our arms around this spending cancer. 38.5 B is like 10 days of deficit spending for our govt. Americans are unable to face the reality of the situation which is that we must curtail and eliminate many of our social programs, federal pensions, and regulatory agencies (that not only cost tax payer money but also put a strangle hold on business).
We must organize and educate the Patriots and we can win.
by Ricko Armstrong  2011-04-12 08:22:42
They caved in, no other explaination fits. They forgot just who put them in office and what they promised when we did. We warned them and now they must be held accountable or it will be nothing but "business as usual-Washington style". I am exptreamely disappointed.

Speaker Boehner could have gotten more I believe. Having said that I also know the political culture in Washington is so intrenched and disconetcted from the average citizen he probley believes he die the best he could. We know we are ready to suffer much more cutting in order to save our country, but lets be paient except the reality of it is what it is, and continue to fight for more. In the next round if we push a little more we will be able to movr the bar even further down the road. The most important thing is to grow our numbers. A title wave is stronger than several small ripples. God Bless America and her salvation lies in Gods favor ant the Tea Party

Please read these AP stories: http://www.aolnews.com/2011/04/12/government-spending-cuts-not-expected-to-dent-1-5-trillion-defi/ http://www.aolnews.com/2011/04/12/obama-prevents-budget-cuts-to-favorite-programs/
Boehner's deal is worse than NPR and Planned Parenthood. It provides full funding for ObamaCare, for the EPA to restrict CO2, and for new banking regulation, which will surely doom recovery. It also funds NEW controls on firearms and the internet, and the Libyan war.
The $38B is barely ONE PERCENT of the $3,730B FY2011 budget, which is 28% HIGHER than in FY2008 ($2,980B). We need $750B in cuts to go back just three years. Now we learn that the Boehner-Obama "cuts" are mostly accounting trickery. It is BUSINESS AS USUAL with the new Republican Congress.
Bad as official debt projections are for the next decade, they are based on 5-to-6 percent annual GDP growth, which won't happen in this regulatory environment. Check the facts at: http://www.usgovernmentspending.co

There is a butt load, of oil at Gull Island Alaska (on the north slope). What does it cost to take it from the ground? Just $3.00 (Yes, you've read that right. Three whole dollars.) And just what would US consumers, be paying at the gas pump? Around a $1.00 to about $1.25 per gallon. Another backroom deal here folks. The US Taxpayer's are getting screwed, by your government. Just ask, that cementhead, Henry Kissinger, about the shady deal he made in the 1970's. And of course, he and the government, will lie about it. This should make you good and mad.

There is no longer any difference between the Republicans and the democrats in Washington, they are all for bigger government and buying their votes in exchange for social programs at the expense of the taxpayers. I think we will have to eventually pick up our guns and take action, voting doesn't seem to work.

by  Linda Adair  2011-04-15 09:59:32
Originally I supported the budget deal, since the Senate and White house were Democratic controlled and Boener probably did the best he could undwer the circumstances. Now, after the CBO report and others, I don't feel negotiated hard enough at all and we're going to end up spending more than ever.
by Bryan Hunter  2011-04-15 12:14:25
